Speech Recognition in Radiology
Radiology is the early adopter of technology of healthcare. Need proof? The majority (73%) of holdouts in adopting speech recognition have plans to finally take the plunge.
We’ve all heard our fair share of horror stories from someone who is prescribed the wrong medication, or even misdiagnosed. While we’re all a little weary of computers taking over the world, they can certainly provide an added level of peace to both patients and physicians. Clinical decision support (CDS) systems are used to help providers make better and quicker decisions at the point of care. Like most technologies, their useful and convenient abilities do not come without their own list of struggles. Many companies will employ a stand-alone CDS solution, and while they are great at what they do, can be hard to integrate with the provider’s EHR. On the flip side, some may opt for a more basic solution that integrates well with their EHR, but miss out on some of the robust functionally you get from a specific stand-alone system.
We conducted this research study to better understand the trends of clinical decision support systems. What is it that clinicians really want? What are the main use cases for clinical decision support? Who are the major vendors in the space, both as a full functioning system, and those who contribute to the early stages of a full CDS strategy? Answers to these, and many other questions, can be found in this report. Throughout this report you will also see references to a study we did in 2017 around clinical decision support systems as they relate to imaging. It was specifically done around the time of the appropriate use government mandate.

We received a tremendous response from physicians in a wide variety of specialties. Regardless of their discipline, all are frustrated to one extent or another. Here are the top reasons physicians are reaching the end of their tethers.
In concert with BYU’s Department of Public Health we conducted in-depth research with provider organizations across the country on social determinants of health (SDoH).
